What a FUN WEEK!

March 2nd, was Dr. Seuss' birthday! We had a whole-school community meeting, and in class, we did a Seuss BREAKOUT! Teamwork at it's best! There are some photos below...

We also joined an activity happening across the country: MARCH MAMMAL MADNESS! Ask your child about it! (It's a fun way to add a little nonfiction reading to our day. :)  Many kids are really excited!

News for School!

Hi Everyone!
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday with your family! It's hard to believe snow is upon us...
Here are few tips as we brave the winter ahead:)

1. Please LABEL EVERYTHING! LLBean is very popular around here, and many kids have the same gear.
2. Send gloves/mittens, and possibly even an extra, dry pair!
3. We will go outside when the temperature is 10 degrees and above.
4. DRY SHOES to change into. Classroom routine to be aware of: Kids take their boots off, outside of the classroom, to keep our floor/rug dry and clean. Students will need an extra pair of shoes. Some kids will leave a pair of sneakers here, and wear the boots to/from home. This works well, as kids are then always prepared for PE, weather, etc. If your child prefers sneakers ("because it's too hard to play 4 square in boots!"), PLEASE send an extra pair of dry sneakers.

That's all for (s)now!

Our Week!

We had A LOT of FUN this week! At the ACTEM conference I attended last week, I learned how to create a BREAKOUT for 3rd graders! Today we did a puzzle called TEAMWORK. Basically, there's a box that the class is trying to unlock. In this challenge, there were 8 teams, each trying to open a different lock. In order to be successful, all teams had to figure out the answer to their own puzzle. With a combined effort ... WE BROKE OUT!!!!

Here are some "in the action" shots...

Yesterday, we played Group Charades- to get ready to work well together today!

Here's our Golden Gate Bridge, and Eiffel Tower!
